Abstract
Purpose: To evaluate of changes of posterior tibial slope and valgus angle after open wedge high tibial osteotomy (OWHTO) with allogenic bone graft.

Materials and Methods: Seventeen patients with medial compartment osteoarthritis treated by open wedge high tibial osteotomy from February 2011 to April 2012 were analyzed. We analyzed the radiographic results by follow-up radiography and the functional results according to IKDC (international knee documentation committee score) and Lysholm score.

Results: Posterior tibial slope was increased from average 8 degrees to 9.7 degrees after OWHTO and to 9.5 degrees at 1 year follow-up. Varus angle which was 5 degrees before OWHTO had been changed to valgus angle which was 6 degrees after OWHTO. We use cancellous type bone substitues. IKDC increased from average 51 to average 82. Lysholm score increased from average 42 to average 82.5.

Conclusion: Clinical and radiographic results of OWHTO achieve good result for patients of knee medial unicompartment osteoarthritis. According to the results of clinical and radiographic outcome, OWHTO is one of the favorable treatment method for patients of knee medial unicompartment osteoarthritis. There was no complication with bone substitues.
